The Healthy Streets Conference, Exhibition and Awards ceremony was the must-attend event for those working to make significant improvements in air quality, active travel, health and wellbeing by implementing Healthy Streets projects in Greater London and beyond.
We attended the Healthy Streets Conference in London recently and were impressed with the level of engagement and interest shown in Active Commuting.
The Mayor of London’s draft Transport Strategy set out the policies and proposals that will reshape transport in London over the next 25 years. It builds on the vision for a better London, with Healthy – yet functional – at the centre. The draft strategy includes ambitions to make at least 80% of all journeys made by cycle, foot or by using public transport and to reduce car modal share in London from 36% to 20%.
The Boroughs have an integral role to play. In 2018, Boroughs will be required to draft their own Local Implementation Plans (LIPs) demonstrating how they will achieve the aims of the strategy on a local level. Details of the transport strategy, healthier streets and how London Boroughs should prepare, were discussed, debated and progressed.
